The Haarlem Ice Rink needed an expanded canopy to enhance its energy efficiency and provide better protection against weather conditions. Spantech had already installed a partial roof over the inner track in 2016, and the next phase aimed to cover a larger area while maintaining sustainability.
Spantech extended the existing canopy to 4,900m² using its I-novation self-supporting roof structure. This innovative design reduced energy consumption for cooling the ice rink by 15%, contributing to a more sustainable operation. The construction incorporated 44% recycled aluminium, aligning with circular building principles.

Spantech is proud to have contributed to a future-proof, eco-friendly solution for IJsbaan Haarlem. We look forward to seeing skaters enjoy the enhanced facilities this winter.
